Zero: Næringslivets klimapris tildelt Langskip
Langskip Project Wins the 2025 Climate Business Award at Zero Conference
At last week’s Zero Conference, the Langskip project was honored with the 2025 Climate Business Award, and our own CCS pioneer Per Brevik received a lifetime achievement award for groundbreaking contributions. The climate award was accepted on behalf of Heidelberg Materials by Tor Gautestad, Operational Manager at Brevik CCS.

Jury’s Statement
“The winner receives the award for establishing essential infrastructure enabling major emission reductions from Norwegian and European industry, with significant commercial potential. The project will deliver Norway’s largest single emission cut and has demonstrated strong international impact. The winner is therefore a role model for Norwegian climate efforts both nationally and internationally,” said jury member Vikas Thakur, Dean at NTNU.
Tor Gautestad emphasized the importance of the project in his speech:
“Thank you so much for this award – it means a great deal to all of us at Heidelberg Materials. Brevik CCS is a fundamentally important project for us and for the entire cement industry. We are proud to be part of the Langskip project.
What started as an idea in the cafeteria more than 20 years ago has evolved into a central part of our vision. Recently, we announced a new facility in Wales – twice the size of Brevik – showing how we are taking our learnings forward.
Since construction began, we have invested more than 1.3 million work hours and shared knowledge with other projects. This initiative impacts the entire value chain, and with our new product evoZero, we are opening the door to a future with significantly lower CO₂ footprints.
This is a major step toward a more sustainable industry. We are proud, we are grateful – and we carry this award with humility and enthusiasm.”

“Per Brevik has been instrumental in making carbon capture a reality. His tireless efforts, from the initial idea and acceptance within the Heidelberg Group to testing and implementation in climate partnerships with research and authorities, have helped Norway take the lead in carbon capture, transport, and storage,” said Ole Erik Almlid, CEO of NHO(The Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise).
